Talent Acquisition Specialist (Toronto, Ontario)

Summary of Position:

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for the full-cycle recruitment activities at Canada Goose, and develop new and creative recruiting strategies to attract and retain the best possible talent.   The incumbent will lead the employee onboarding experience from the recruitment stage and support it into organizational integration.  The Talent Acquisition Specialist will contribute to Canada Goose’s employment branding strategy by participating in a number of key strategic projects designed to engage our employees. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and recruit top talent for positions across the organization
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment activities for Canada, US, and Europe including: assessing requirements, developing job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, conducting references and background checks to the offer stage
  • Manage and update the employee onboarding program; understand that the onboarding experience begins in the recruitment stage
  • Support hiring managers by training for behavioral interviewing techniques and candidate assessment
  • Support hiring managers after candidate acceptance by training for onboarding best-practices
  • Drive Canada Goose’s employment branding strategy  to ensure that there is a continuous flow of candidates to choose from
  • Lead all recruitment initiatives and develop new and creative recruitment strategies
  • Proactively identify unique and non-traditional sources to identify potential candidates and source passive candidates through networking and direct sourcing
  • Actively use social media to connect with passive candidates through networking and industry events
  • Create, build, and maintain relationships with strong leadership talent in the marketplace
  • Manage ongoing relationships with vendors (job fairs, campus recruitment, agencies, online and social media)
  • Administer assessment tools as appropriate in support of securing top talent
  • Track and meet service metrics on number of candidates phone screened, interviewed, and time to hire
  • Report and analyze recruitment related data for trends; making recommendations for improvement where needed
  • Remove roadblocks; recognize gaps and areas of opportunity to improve the talent acquisition function
  • Work with peers and other relevant stakeholders to develop roadmaps for future  talent acquisition
  • Support the development of and implementation of various staff training and development programs and events
  • Take responsibility for assigned tasks and show initiative to suggest improvements to systems, processes and procedures
  • Proactively seek to adopt and maintain best practices as an HR professional
  • Participate and contribute to additional projects and HR initiatives as assigned

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree  in Human Resources an asset
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience
  • Manufacturing industry experience considered an asset
  • Experience in various HR functions including employee and labour relations, health and safety, compensation and performance management considered a definite asset

 Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Working knowledge of recruiting best practices, including recruiting through social media
  • Have a pulse on the hiring market, current trends and technology and the aptitude for proactively identifying and acting upon opportunities as it relates to talent acquisition
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and work in fast paced changing environment
  • Results oriented, with the ability to  think analytically and question processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with employees at all levels
  • Proven relationship management and negotiation skills with the ability to influence
  • Strong working knowledge of MS applications with the ability to grasp new technologies
  • Problem solving and project management skills
  • Commitment to protecting the confidentiality of employee concerns
  • Exceptional attention to detail and committed to a high degree of accuracy
  • Service oriented with a  team-based approach
  • Knowledge of employment standards legislation and other HR compliance
